Are CBD and Hemp Oil the Same?

CBD Oil

CBD oil has been all the rave lately. With incredible uses like managing stress, relieving pain, reducing acne, and leaving an overall benefit on your health, CBD oil has quickly made its way to the top of shoppers ‘must-have’ lists. Once you begin shopping around for your new natural remedy, you may find that hemp oil exists right alongside CBD. While very similar and sharing many of the same benefits, these two oils are in fact different.

Hemp Oil

Hand-in-hand with CBD oil is hemp oil. This oil shares a lot of similarities. Hemp oil is known to be used to treat medical conditions like epilepsy, anxiety, and even alzheimer’s. Additionally, hemp oil is used for pain management and beauty benefits. Containing no THC, hemp oil does not give off the psychotropic feeling of being high, but users should still limit their dosage, as everyone is different.

Difference between CBD oil and Hemp oil

To understand the biggest differential between CBD and hemp oil, we have to go back to the very beginning of the process. Producers of CBD oil first begin with a hemp plant that has a high concentration of cannabidiol. The whole plant is used in the process; not just the leaves, stems, or seeds. The CBD is then extracted from the plant using different methods like soaking in alcohol or using a CO2 process. The CBD oil is leftover from whichever process is used for extraction. Afterwards, the oil is used to create a variety of products.

Hemp oil is made through a similar process. However, it begins with the hemp plant seed being separated from the rest of the plant. The seeds are cleaned to prevent any contamination of THC. Hemp plant seeds hold no THC, which means the final product won’t contain any THC either. Similarly, this process results in the oil being cleared of an CBD as well. The seeds are then pressed and molded to extract oil from them. The hemp oil is filtered through a process, and then used for consumption or other products that require hemp oil. In short, while CBD and hemp oil share many similar benefits for health and beauty; they ultimately aren’t the same thing. Different extraction processes result in different products. However each oil is equally beneficial and natural.
